Thomas E. Bazley, CPA, has more than 25 years of public accounting experience with a focus on income, estate and gift tax planning for business owners, high-net-worth individuals and families. He is well versed in income and estate planning for retirement benefits, including the required minimum distribution rules, income tax effects of certain distributions, and issues related to using trusts to hold retirement benefits. Tom typically works with families with a net worth exceeding $500 million in income and in transfer tax planning.
Prior to joining Weaver, Tom worked for BDO, where he served as the Estate, Gift and Trust Practice Leader for the firm’s Florida offices. He is a frequent speaker at estate planning councils and state CPA societies on income and transfer tax matters. He has also developed content and instructed courses on income, estate and gift tax planning for Surgent McCoy, the largest provider of continuing education material for CPAs. Tom has also appeared on radio shows to discuss issues related to income and estate tax planning and he has published articles in The Tax Adviser, a publication by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
Tom is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Florida and is member of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA) and AICPA. He graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from the University of North Florida.
