Greg Johnston is a veteran of the energy sector, with more than 25 years of project development and consultation experience. His early career was spent in upstream offshore oil and gas before he migrated to midstream, air emissions and energy transition development. He brings deep technical and commercial experience in the Carbon Sequestration (CCUS), Hydrogen/Ammonia and Carbon Reduction (ESG-related) spaces, as well as traditional upstream and midstream markets (onshore and offshore). Formerly, he served as a Carbon Reduction Lead and Co-Head of a Technical Business Consulting Group, where he focused on CO2 transportation and energy transformation. He was also Vice President for an air emissions firm, focusing on emissions reduction solutions. Additionally, Greg developed a patented system for VOC abatement for offshore ship-to-ship crude transfer.
One of his unique strengths is his ability to convert complex projects from concepts to actualization, addressing project economics, as well as technical hurdles. He leveraged those skills to develop systems that address challenges in the carbon reduction/ESG and carbon capture spaces. Greg transitioned to Weaver to enhance Weaver’s ability to offer carbon reduction strategy services, Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) compliance tools and carbon intensity determination. These systems also address carbon accounting, and economic enhancements in the carbon and hydrogen related markets.
Greg speaks Portuguese, and is a member of the Houston Committee on Foreign Relations and the Pipeliners Association of Houston. He earned a Bachelor of Science in construction management from Colorado State University.
