Beau Butler, Jr., ASA-BV, has almost 20 of business valuation experience, including purchase price allocations, impairment testing, buy-sell agreements, fairness opinions, 409A/cheap stock, gift and estate tax valuations, C-to-S conversions, reasonable compensation studies and shareholder disputes. He has performed engagements for both privately held businesses and SEC registrants. He has experience in diverse industries including craft beer, beverage manufacturers, distribution, energy, financial brokerage, physician practices, manufacturing, trucking, professional services firms and software development. He has valued non-operating entities (partnerships, FLPs, complex GRATS and other estate planning vehicles) with a variety of assets such as working oil and gas interests, promissory notes, and complex distribution tranches.
Beau also has experience valuing intangible assess including contingent consideration, assembled workforce, trade names, patents, software, deferred revenue, TV and radio broadcast contracts, natural gas contracts, non-compete agreements, favorable/unfavorable leases, franchise rights, advertising/sponsorship contracts, naming rights, concessions agreements, season ticketholders, stadium suites and customer relationships. His energy-related valuations include oil and gas (upstream/E&P, midstream including FERC-regulated pipelines, downstream blending and marketing) and oilfield services (drilling contractor services, drilling rigs and rig equipment, drilling fluids and proppants, pressure-pumping services, well maintenance equipment and services, offshore engineering, OCTG/pipe inspection, well completion services) and retail energy distribution (electricity and natural gas).
An Accredited Senior Appraiser in Business Valuations (ASA-BV), Beau is a member of the American Society of Appraisers and the Healthcare Financial Management Association. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science, cum laude, from Millsaps College; an MBA from Vanderbilt University; and a master’s degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Nebraska–Omaha.
