Mike Stein, CPA, has more than 18 years of experience in the energy industry, including 14 years in public accounting performing risk management, compliance, and business process improvement consulting services to upstream and midstream companies and providing assurance services associated with federal gasoline and renewable fuel regulations administered by the Environmental Protection Agency. In addition, he has experience assisting organizations implement new accounting standards, establish enterprise risk management functions, and develop ESG reporting and disclosure frameworks.
Most recently, he spent four years as part of the financial leadership team of a publicly traded energy company assisting the organization navigate various accounting, reporting and energy transition-related issues, including the development of policies and procedures to support various ESG reporting and disclosure initiatives and the emerging carbon, capture, and sequestration business.
His current professional emphasis includes providing accounting, reporting, assurance and consulting services to the petroleum and renewable fuel industries, including performing attestation engagements required by U.S. Code of Federal Regulations, Title 40, Part 80 and Part 1090 and advising on compliance matters related to U.S. gasoline and renewable fuels regulations.
A Certified Public Accountant, Mike is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TXCPA). He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas Tech University and a Master of Accountancy from the University of Texas at Dallas.
