Fort Worth Groups Holding Up Despite Slowdown in the Market

Weaver’s partners, Sam Wren and Howard Altshuler, along with Patrick De Loache and Aaron Grisz, share their insights on the Fort Worth real estate industry with the Dallas Business Journal. The Journal reports that Fort Worth investors and developers have slowed down when it comes to new projects, but overall many groups have weathered turmoil within the broader economy.

• Activity among these groups has slowed considerably compared to the market’s most recent peak.
• “At least in my client base, I had a whole lot that had short-term debt,” said Samuel Wren, partner, Tax Services at Weaver. “Most of the guys that had something coming due were looking to sell anyway, were looking at exit events. So I haven’t had the wholesale rush we had back in ’08.” 
• “Fortunately, a lot of our clients were probably pretty early in the product lifecycle when things started happening, so they already had their financing arranging and their caps in place,” said Howard Altshuler, partner-in-charge, Real Estate and Construction Services.
