LEADing the Way with Internal Coaching
The pilot cohort of participants in WeaverLEAD, our firm’s new leadership coaching program, gathered in Houston for the first time this month. Over two days of training, we listened to lectures by certified coaching professionals, engaged in small group discussions and exercises, and reflected on thought-provoking questions through journaling. Most importantly, we practiced our coaching skills with one another.
This was the first of four modules that will take place monthly throughout the summer, with twelve WeaverLEAD coaches added to the current team of six. In August, our Learning & Development team will host our Pathways Leadership Training for new managers, senior managers, directors and partners who will work with a WeaverLEAD coach during the first year in their new role.
Building a Culture of Coaching
The 70-hour training program will require reading, reflection, and practice between sessions. Following the training, WeaverLEAD coaches will coach internally within the firm. Coaching will take place in individual and group sessions, typically on a monthly basis.
This training program will partially fulfill the requirements to gain an ICF credential. Additional requirements are 100+ hours of coaching plus 10 hours of mentor coaching, which the WeaverLEAD team, under my direction, will also provide to the members of each cohort.
WeaverLEAD will adhere to International Coaching Federation (ICF) standards, which define coaching as “a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.”
Created in partnership with coaching professionals with ALIGN Coaching & Consulting, the program will seek accreditation with ICF following its inception.
Expanding the Reach of Executive Leadership Coaching
At Weaver, one of our core values is to help each other succeed in work and in life. We are committed to investing in the strength of our team. That’s why we have created an internal leadership coaching program to train leaders to support other leaders at every level of the organization.
Looking into the future, we see potential for WeaverLEAD to be marketed externally to Weaver clients as well as other firms. Clients will be able to take advantage of the opportunity that executive leadership coaching presents for their own growth and development. Firms will be able to sponsor individuals to join a WeaverLEAD cohort to receive training to provide coaching to leaders within their organization.

The goal of Weaver LEAD is to inspire the growth and development of our leaders by:
Leaning into the experience of exploring new ideas for each individual’s growth as a leader.
Engaging the coaching mindset at work with new ways of thinking about challenges and opportunities.
Adapting to the transformation that takes place as a result of participating in the program.
Developing yourself and others with coaching competencies to create a firm-wide culture of coaching.
