Retail Delivery Fee Automatic Account Closure

Tax relief has begun landing in the mailbox for Colorado taxpayers eligible for an exemption from the state’s Retail Delivery Fee, which has created hidden challenges for businesses. Colorado recently passed Senate Bill 23-143, which includes the exemption for businesses with $500,000 or less in retail sales during the prior calendar year.
Qualified businesses are no longer required to collect, report, or remit the Retail Delivery Fee. The Colorado Department of Revenue is in the process of sending notices about the change to businesses that qualify. If you have not received a notification and believe your business meets the $500,000 or less threshold to qualify for the exemption, you may want to consult your tax advisor to determine whether you should work to close your Retail Delivery Account.
