Texas Tax Amnesty Program
On December 21, 2017, Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced that a temporary tax amnesty program, authorized by Senate Bill 1 (2017), will run from May 1, 2018 to June 29, 2018.
The Texas tax amnesty program applies to periods prior to Jan. 1, 2018 and provides delinquent taxpayers with relief from penalties and interest on most taxes administered by the Texas Comptroller, including sales and use, franchise, severance and most fuel taxes.
The tax amnesty does not apply to liabilities that have been previously identified as due by the Comptroller, periods currently under audit review, IFTA taxes, PUC gross receipts assessments, local motor vehicle tax and unclaimed property payments.
The tax amnesty program can offer significant savings to delinquent taxpayers. Weaver can help your company identify and quantify tax liabilities to be reported in the tax amnesty program. We can also help your company create a road map to long-term compliance and tax minimization.
